Jennifer Scheer
Piano Accompanist (Once on This Island)
Jennifer Scheer brings an original voice, classical expertise and exceptional talent to her distinctly
contemporary musical craft. As a performing artist, Miss Scheer's combination of gifted songwriting,
piano virtuosity, and extraordinary vocal power distinguish her as an emerging creative powerhouse in
the New York musical community. As a classically trained pianist and accomplished lyricist, Miss
Scheer offers a textured and elegant performance that places her at the cutting-edge of popular music.
Born in Minneapolis, Jennifer Scheer began playing the piano at age five and started her classical music
training the following year. By the age of eight, she was writing her own songs and soon performing
both classical and original music compositions to recital and concert audiences throughout the Midwest.
During her childhood, Miss Scheer studied at the New England Conservatory. Her summers were
spent at the Oberlin Piano Institute. In high school, she studied at the Cincinnati Conservatory of
Music under the tutelage of master teacher Elizabeth Pridonoff, who encouraged Miss Scheer to
pursue a career in composition and performance. She was soon competing in regional and national
competitions, winning First Place in the Buckeye Piano Competition, as well as superior ratings in the
National Endowment for the Arts Competition and the Ohio Music Association Awards.
Miss Scheer was accepted into the prestigious School of Music at the University of Illinois, where she
studied with the late William Miller, a respected musician and mentor. Recently, Miss Scheer was
acknowledged by the Johnny Mercer Foundation for an exceptional talent in songwriting.
