Alika Hope
Andrea Devereaux (Once on This Island)
Alika Hope was noted for her projection of “sassiness, humiliation, and
sensuality” by Opera News and by The New Yorker for her “luminous
aria.” Off-Broadway: Title role in Philomel; The Emperor Jones, and Medea in
Corinth (opera). New York City: "Babe" in Pajama Game, "Sharon" in
Master Class; H.M.S Pinafore, and Midsummer Night’s Dream. Other
appearances include Cincinnati Opera, Indiana Opera North, EWTN,
CBS-TV, and Chicago’s Navy Pier. Alika also sang with the Chicago-area
salsa band Sabor Latino. A native of Portland, Oregon, she earned a B.A.
from the University of Notre Dame and an M.A. from Columbia
University. Alika will appear in Margaret Garner with Opera Company of
Philadelphia in February.
